Economicum

Helsinki Center of Economic Research (HECER) is a joint initiative of the University of Helsinki (UH), the Aalto University School of Economics (HSE) and the Hanken School of Economics (SHH). HECER and the three economics departments of the participating universities (UH, HSE and SHH) are located in the Economicum building in the very center of Helsinki. HECER was launched in 2004.

HECER is an independent research institute whose main purpose is to promote high-quality economic research, to develop and co-ordinate doctoral level economic education, to promote co-operation in economics among the universities in the Helsinki area, and to interact with the society at large.

HECER organizes the Finnish Doctoral Programme in Economics (FDPE), and acts as the host institution for the Nordic Network in Economics (NNE). NNE promotes co-operation in doctoral training in economics in the Nordic countries and Estonia.
