Dr Roope Uusitalo appointed as research director at HECER

Dr Roope Uusitalo has been appointed as a research director (in the rank of a professor) at Helsinki Center of Economic Research (HECER). The position is supported by the University of Helsinki Network for Higher Education and Innovation Research.

Prior to taking the current post, Uusitalo served as a research director at the Government Institute for Economic Research and as an affiliated researcher at IFAU, Uppsala. He has held various positions at the Labour Institute for Economic Research, Aalto University School of Economics, University of Helsinki, and Institute for Labour Market Policy Evaluation at Uppsala. Uusitalo received his PhD from University of Helsinki in 1999.

Uusitalo is one of the leading labour economists in Finland. His research interests include labour market effects of government programs, economic effects of immigration and economics of education.
