Curriculum of HECER Master's Programme
 

The two year HECER Master's programme, totaling 120 ECTS credits, consists of three components:

1. Main studies 52 ECTS credits
2. Other studies 24 ECTS credits
3. Thesis and seminar work

42 ECTS credits

Main studies consist of core and field courses (see below). Requirements concerning them may vary from one university to another. Prospective students are urged to consult the respective study guides concerning the details. What is common to all the curricula is, however, that the important core courses are compulsory. The remaining studies can be selected from the list of field courses.

Other studies consist of specialized courses in economics or, depending on the university, courses from a related discipline such as finance, statistics, or mathematics.

Other frequently lectured courses (6 ECTS credits each) include Public Economics, Globalization and Growth, Money and Monetary Policy, Empirical Macroeconomics, Macroeconometrics, Financial Econometrics, Environmental Resource and Energy, Advanced Economic Theory, Market Design, and Contracts.  

A student can either follow the General Economics route or he/she may specialize in Econometrics, Applied Microeconomics, or Development Economics. Specialization means that the student completes at least three field courses in the area under consideration.
